Magicdave6 (4153), London, Greater London, England Jan 8, 2008 Cask in Bon Accord as best bitter. (3.8%?) Im thinking it was just an old pump clip. Aroma is biscuity malt grassy hops, hints of honey and citrus. Taste is similar though a bit thin and sweeter than expected. Good sessioning. hughie (2458), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Feb 3, 2007 Cask, gravity dispense, at Wellington Arms BF ’07, Bedford. Amber. Spicy hop aroma and taste. A bit watery, but fair late beitterness. leaparsons (4180), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Oct 2, 2006 Cask, Cow and Plough, Stoughton. Hazy toffee coloured with an off-white head. Aromas are spicy, bitter hops with light maltiness. Flavours are hoppy, spicy and dry with a bitter finish. A decent traditional bitter. Garrat (1078), Suffolk, England Oct 2, 2004 Cask At The Ipswich Beer Festival.Another good beer from Mauldons,an easy session bitter. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England Sep 24, 2004 Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London.
With so many bitters in Mauldon’s lineup we had to refer to the good beer guide to sort out if this was indeed a scoop. Thankfully this wasn’t overlooked. Golden. Very strong bitter kick to it. A mule of bitter. The bitterness has tremendous length and is most rewarding for those willing to take the time between quaffs.
