Cask handpull at King’s Head, Norwich. Copper, lasting beige head. Bit of toast. Like a toasty best bitter. Pretty decent best bitter, nothing spectacular, but cold drink a lot of it.

Cask conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury. Darkish amber with light head. Particularly sweet malty, lowly flavoured bitter. Fruity and grainy with a quick finish. Thin in body, largely unexiting.

Cask (gravity dispense); Beer #2 at Bedford Beer Festival 2005. Copper colour with a thin white head. Soft, light malt aroma. More mellow malt on the palate, but not a lot of bitterness initially. However, the bitterness grows rather unexpectedly, and assertively, on the finish and in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is quite thin. Overall a straightforward and easy-drinking best bitter. Would have been better if the bitterness had appeared on the scene earlier. Quite refreshing.
