cluny6 (93), Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England Aug 14, 2008 Dark amber ale with small head but good retention. The aroma is fruity with moderate hops noticeable. VEry fruity and some hops, a bit watery. Simple taste. Good for a pub but not to take home to savor. B- downender (1785), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Apr 9, 2008 Cask-conditioned at The Castle, EC4 8/4/08. Amber coloured with a moderate white head. caramel and earthy malt aroma. Full mouth feel with plenty of sweet malt, marzipan and a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable. Ethereal (1167), London, Greater London, England Dec 26, 2007 Cask with Mes at the Market Porter, 2nd Sept 2007. Dark blonde colour with no head. Aroma of alcohol and pineapple. Sweet malt flavour at first and then the alcohol comes through, which makes it nicely warming. Rich, smooth finish. Very drinkable! Cask at the Market Porter. Nice dark gold colour but with no head. Sweet malty aroma with a pleasing hint of alcohol (strange for a 4.8% beer) but it works for me. Very slight pineapple too. Appley flavour but not in a bad way, nice light alcohol notes too. Mellow and drinkable. harrisoni (5605), Ashford, Kent, England May 19, 2007 Updated: Jun 22, 2007500ml bottle from the brewery. Having had 4 bottles of this I have decided that I like it. Chilled and filtered before bottling. Amber, rocky white head. Little bit estery on aroma on this bottle which I didn’t pick up on the previous bottles. Good sharp English hop aroma too. Decent malts in mouth, little bit biscuity. Peachy hop finish is very good. Bitter. Tasty, but would like to try on cask.
I had this on cask at the Gardener’s Arms in Lewes and didn’t like it as much as the bottle version, fuller, but sweeter and less hoppy.
