Aroma of sweet caramel and lightly roasted malts with a slightly earthy character. Starts with some toasty caramel and roasted dark malty sweetness with some grainy character and light hoppy bitterness. A decent, fairly authentic schwarzbier. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2006 Draft @ downtown location. Very dark black, but not opaque, color with a small beige head. Roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate notes and a fair amount of black coffee. The flavor had a slightly tart beginning followed up with black coffee. Dry finish with a roasted bitterness as opposed to it seeming like a hop bitterness. Sammy (4030), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 10, 2006 A mild stout, both in taste and alcohol. Not bad as a beer or a shwartzbeer, there’s chocolate here. Roasty and coffee-ish, even a hint of wood and smoke, but medium-thin mouthfeel. Also bleach from glass in nose. Malty sufficiently to be Quaffable.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 9, 2006 85-90% opaque. Chocolate aroma, hop touch, perfume and lactic flavors. Roasted, malty edge, but lacking the boldness it might have. Carbonated lilt with a hollowness afterward. I assumed this was a schwarzbier, and I’m proven correct. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 18, 2005 Draft. Dark brown and clear. Light nutty caramel malty nose, and some fruit, like apples. More light-caramel malty flavors, some roastiness, and some chocolate. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 25, 2005 Clear dark brown-bronze body with a filmy, fading light tan head. Good dark malty nose with notes of unsweetened chocolate, tobacco, light roast, and a faint vegetal note, but not off-putting. More roast comes out in the flavor with some burnt raisin character. Medium-thin body. Fair schwarzbier. I wish more American brewers would take a crack at this style.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 3, 2005 hmm, well its pretty much black looking, maybe some creamy roasted chocolate things goin on in the aroma, really creamy and weird tasting, kinda bland fake chocolate feel to it. Not too impressive. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA
