Aroma is caramelized and leaning toward smokey -- hard to tell the restaurant smells like woodsmoke. Butter, caramel and cocoa are prominent in the flavor profile. Coffee, bitter, woody on the backend with a medium consistancy. Excellent with the fine food. foduck (304), Denton, Texas, USA

A true-to-style schwarzbier, clean but at no point was watery. Enough chocolate and roastiness to stay interesting, but not extraordinary. Nice mouthfeel. aracauna (2427), Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 20, 2003 Black with ruby highlights but with a quick-fading head. The aroma is burned brownies and smoke (but not overwhelming smoke. This flavor isn't really huge but for a schwarzbier it's really good. A little thin on the mouthfeel, but not so much for a lager. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Color is a deep sable brown, head is tan and fairly persistent. Aroma is smoky with a hint of coffee, and has an odd waxy or dusty overtone to it. Flavor is decent, mainly burnt coffee but again with a waxy hint to it - not unpleasant, but strange. It has a good hoppy bite and a smooth, pleasant texture. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2004 Dark bronze with ruby and no head or lacing. The aroma is sweet with malts & a nice hoppy bite. Odd to find this was a lager. The flavor is well balanced and smooth with a nutty/caramel aftertaste. not bad for a lager! Hoss (602), Florida, USA

Aroma of sweet caramel and lightly roasted malts with a slightly earthy character. Starts with some toasty caramel and roasted dark malty sweetness with some grainy character and light hoppy bitterness. A decent, fairly authentic schwarzbier.
