A fine schwarz. Aroma is caramelized and leaning toward smokey -- hard to tell the restaurant smells like woodsmoke. Butter, caramel and cocoa are prominent in the flavor profile. Coffee, bitter, woody on the backend with a medium consistancy. Excellent with the fine food.

I was surprised to find this in a bar in my town. A true-to-style schwarzbier, clean but at no point was watery. Enough chocolate and roastiness to stay interesting, but not extraordinary. Nice mouthfeel.

Black with ruby highlights but with a quick-fading head. The aroma is burned brownies and smoke (but not overwhelming smoke. This flavor isn't really huge but for a schwarzbier it's really good. A little thin on the mouthfeel, but not so much for a lager.

Color is a deep sable brown, head is tan and fairly persistent. Aroma is smoky with a hint of coffee, and has an odd waxy or dusty overtone to it. Flavor is decent, mainly burnt coffee but again with a waxy hint to it - not unpleasant, but strange. It has a good hoppy bite and a smooth, pleasant texture.

Dark bronze with ruby and no head or lacing. The aroma is sweet with malts & a nice hoppy bite. Odd to find this was a lager. The flavor is well balanced and smooth with a nutty/caramel aftertaste. not bad for a lager!

Dark and true to type. It is billed as a dark for those who don’t like dark. I wish they sold it on it’s merits as it is a very drinlkable brew.

This was nice and tasty, with some big flavors. Very roasted and nutty, with some smooth coffee creaminess in the finish.

Nearly opaque black pour has a thin off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and lightly roasted malts with a slightly earthy character. Starts with some toasty caramel and roasted dark malty sweetness with some grainy character and light hoppy bitterness. A decent, fairly authentic schwarzbier.
