Aroma: : Coffee, chocolate, roasted
Palate: Too thin I thought and not well balanced
Overall Impression:
On the board they called this one the IMOS, I asked the waitress what IMOS stood for and she said she didn’t know! (Wow...)
The ratings here seem a bit high to me, I thought it was a pretty thin and watery stout...Not something I’m looking for in this style. It’s got a nice mix of ingredients, but the lack of body threw me off. platzap (4), Georgia, USA does not count Mar 5, 2009 pours with thick creamy head - delicious malt good hop balance fantastic roast/chocolate/coffee flavors. great beer! Had first pour on draft at the Pub this week. Let it warm up a bit to get full impact. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 04/07/2001

black, tan head, rich chocolate aroma, rich malt flavor, some oily sweetness, bitter malt finish, lots of potential but too small a sample

belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA Jun 19, 2004 SLightl roasted aroma. A little over roasted in the body, but not bad. A decent attempt. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA May 29, 2004 I thought this was relatively weak and unbalanced. Some nice roasted chocolate malt flavors though. In its defense though, this is the best beer that they make. BückDich (4785), McCall, Idaho, USA Apr 5, 2004 Dark with tan head and spotty lacing. The aroma is fruity and roasty with some mocha qualities but not too strong. The finish is very astringent, too much black malts. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 4, 2004 Dark brown with amber highlights and produces a small tan head and some lace. The aroma hints of mocha, coffee, caramel, aromatic hops, and a touch of date. The taste starts twangy and displays a touch of oatmeal qualities. A lactic sourness is noticeable midway has is a buttered biscuit note. The finish has a touch od smoke, coffee, and lingering bitterness. The mouthfeel is sticky but still feels thin. This is a damn good stout surprisingly, but also isn't really an imperial either. Enjoy it for what it is and for Max Lagers it's above average. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 3, 2004 Pours a thick oily robust black with a dense tan head. Has a rich chocolatey mocha aroma with some hop presence. Body starts sweet with a dry coffee bean finish and caramel malt throughout. Good balance, but could be a bit thicker. Overall a very nice beer though, and one that IMO is more than 6% abv ;)
