Feb 4, 2009 Bright reddish-amber colour. Nice loose head. The aroma is wood and diacetyl. On the palate, this is a true butterbomb. Sure, there’s some woody hop notes and a bit of crystal malt, but the diacetyl really overpowers everything else.

Feb 3, 2009 Copper colored. Tons of hops in the nose. The flavor is balanced a little to the hoppy side. I really like it. It is as straightforward as its name.

Feb 2, 2009 Clear dark amber-red with big rocky head. Diacetyl present in aroma matches style somewhat but buttery. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Too much diacetyl but a balanced beer.

Feb 1, 2009 Cask at Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting. One of the only hoppy brews at the event. Pour is amber with a small head. Aroma of caramel malts, big citrus hops. Taste is very nicely malted, lightly roasted, and also heavily hopped. Finish is lightly bitter. Body is medium with light carbonation and resinous hop feel. A very enjoyable brew that was very nice on cask.

Feb 1, 2009 Cask at the Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting, entered as "This Beer".
Pours a deep brownish amber with a small bubbly tan head that subsides quickly.
The aroma is dominated by the roasted sweet caramel malts but has plenty of citrus hops as well. The character has a fairly toasted character overall.
The taste has a grassy hop kick up front which fades quickly into the toasted malts with a bit of caramel sweetness and a slight dryness in the finish with hints of hop bitterness.
The mouthfeel is good with some hop stickiness and a typically low level of carbonation from the cask.
This is an excellent amber and one of the better beers I tasted at the AC

Jan 31, 2009 Appearance: Clear, chestnut brown body with a bubbly, off-white head.
Smell: A bit roast, toasty, and grainy is the nose with a minor waft of caramelized grains alongside expressive hop scents of wood, florals, citrus, and even grass.
Taste: Toasty and roasty with a very brief caramelized sugar sweetness. Then, it’s time for the hop flavors of from the nose with a moderate bitterness. Finishes dry with a lingering taste of wood chips.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Lightly sticky mouthfeel.
Drinkability: One of the better Max Lagers brews I’ve had in awhile. An enjoyable Imperial Red!

Aroma: bready malt aroma with lots of earthy and floral hops, touch of carame sweetness
Flavor: rich malt flavor, lots of dry caramel malt, plenty of hops to balance out the malt and keep it mostly dry, touch of diactyl brings up the sweetness, long bitter finish
