A yellow beer with a white head. Both the aroma and the flavor are sweet malty - a very clean beer, but not that exciting.

Maxlrainer sort of grows on you. When I first drank it I wasn’t impressed but now I enjoy it. The beer is smooth slightly sweet, just what the doctor ordered after a day at work. Albeit, at times I find it too sweet.

On draught: Very pale golden, little white head; yeasty nose, traces of malts and herbal hops; slightly sweetish flavour, extremely light bitter finish. An absolutely average Helles........

(500 ml bottle: $2.99 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Pale straw in color, fully clear, but with very few carbonation bubbles rising through the beer. However, the snow white head pours to over an inch in height. Retention is excellent, maintaining a thin layer for the entire session, and leaves several haphazardly structured rings of lacing on the glass. But it’s all downhill from here. The sweet and grainy nose isn’t terribly appealing, and while there is also a modest amount of lightly spicy hops in the aroma, it’s just not enough to rescue how this beer smells. And unfortunately, the beer keeps getting worse as this session rolls on. The flavor is simply not good. Sweet, grainy and lightly bready in a somewhat unpleasant way, and combined with the lightly spicy and mildly hops, this beer is leaving a bad aftertaste in my mouth. Body is light but not watery. I’m not enjoying this beer at all.

Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, bread), lightly malty (herbs, flowers), with notes of DMS and plastic. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, grainy, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Maybe I need to have it in Germany, ’cause man this imported bottle was nasty!

Fresh bitterhop aroma. Light golden, big head with clinging lace. Nicely balanced A bit thin mouthfeel. Hint of floery aftertaste.
