Bottled, Very dark brown color, with a amazing persistent beige foam. aroma is complex with notes of red fruits, some sweetness like caramel or roasted sugar. Flavor is the harmonization of everything in this beer, some red fruits, with a sweet touch and a quite spicy. Mouth feel take a long time to go and I really need to drink more each time the glass came back from my mouth! :)

dark reddish brown with solid white head. Nose of candi sugar and dark malts. Flavor of some toasty crystal malt and possibly some chocolate with a strong estery Belgian yeast flavor and a dry finish.. hops absent from this one. A very flavorful beer and very well crafted and an innovative idea. I wouldn’t say the flavors necessarily mesh perfectly, but the idea and perfect production make it a complex and worthwhile brew. Very good

Bottled 750ml. -Dark brown coloured, medium sized off-white head, malty and prunes nose. Very malty, caramel and some spices with notes of dried fruits, burnt sugar and alcohol. A way too sweet beer.

0.75 l bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado - huge thanks! Poured a daaaaark and murky lovely red body with a medium-big thieck off white head. Malty nose, weak notes of dried fruit. The taste is sweetish, dominated by a somewhat bublegummy tasty maltiness. Dry hopiness leaving some aromatic notes. Dried fruit emerges from the maltiness and maybe some strawberry too. Overall very nice.

Bottle Stirchley Wines Birmingham. This used to be a real favourite of mine back in my formative years of belgian beer guzzling so was interested to know if this had stood the test of time. Cloudy dark brown colour with a decent lingering rocky muddy coloured head. Sweetish malty and quite boozy flavour with spice and dark fruit notes. A bit more rough around the edges than I remembered. OK but vaguely disappointing.

Bottle from Celebrations in Belmont Perth Australia. I was introduced to this beer over 10 years ago and it’s still a cracker in my mind. The thing I find most enjoyable about it is the harmony the good people at Brasserie d’Achouffe have found with the rich chocolate colour, delicate spice on the nose, caramel malt flavour, velvety mouth feel and creamy finish. Each charicteristic compliments the next and there are no surprises, it’s just the way it should be.

This is one great beer. A wonderful flavor, not sweet. Creamy for sure. A bit of spice but some good balance between light and heavy. Truly excellent.
