Travlr (700), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 28, 2008 A nice spiced brown ale with some caramel and malt. Good balance, but needs a bit more complexity - perhaps a bit of ageing? plovmand (1590), Helsinge, Denmark Nov 19, 2008 Bottle shared by hallinghansen. Brown colour with a superb creamy light beige head. Fruity aroma with dark sugar and lots of malt. Creamy body. Great taste of spices, dark candy sugar and yeast. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Nov 18, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Kinda fruity nose. Mouthfeel: once again awesome. Flavor is very nice. Not getting much scotchiness, but the fruity flavors and dry finish make it very nice and yummy. Bontus (291), Waasmunster, Belgium Nov 18, 2008 Pours clear brown.
Very well balanced but I found it lacking in aroma’s.
bchlala (42), Denmark Nov 1, 2008 I tasted this beer before I got my account with ratebeer, so I can’t really remember all the flavors. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Oct 29, 2008 Draft at Thirsty Monk recommended by Zoe ;) By this late in the evening, my handwriting wasn’t too legible. In fact, all I can make out is: ’’great’’ and ’’some smoke’’. But I can still read the numbers at least. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Oct 28, 2008 750 ml. Pours a deep red with a whispy whitish head. The aroma is very floral and complex. Lots of spices here like nutmeg, coriander, and clove. A honey sweetness is noted along with bubblegum and lots of flowery scents. This is pretty sweet, but not to the point of being excessive. A distinct oak flavor sort of makes me think of a Scotch ale, but I’d never make that connection on my own. Hints of raisins, port, nutmeg, coriander. . .this almost has a quad feel to it. The mouthfeel is medium with sporadic spritzy patches on my palate. This is pretty darn good, I’m impressed with the Chouffe lineup thus far. fata2683 (837), Panama City, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2008 75cl poured into a pint glass. Nice light brown with red tints. Light beige head. Smells nice and yeasty with some alcohol on the nose. Good flavors of candied sugar, light carmel, finishes with a sharp bitterness that fades to a light alcohol end. The moderate to heavy carbonation works well and keeps the mouth crisp with the flavors popping. The end feels slightly creamy. Excellent head retention and a very nice beer.
