MBison (548), Southern Highlands, Australia Jun 20, 2008 Botltle (750ml) 8%. Poured a very deep, hazy ruby with a large foamy, off-white head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of sweet yeasty malts with buttery Anzac biscuits, toffee, dried mixed fruits, mixed nuts, red berries, pears, nutmeg and some all spice. Flavor was of sweet buttery biscuit malts with yeasty notes, dried mixed fruits, red + black berries, toffee, pears and a spicy (nutmeg, all spice, coriander), warming finish. Very well hidden alcohol content. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, syrupy texture and a good finish. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 19, 2008 Dark brown color with a medium head. Very malty aroma. Dark, sweet malt taste. Lots of nuttiness and some toasted husk flavor. This definitely seemed more like the description on the bottle (brown ale) than a Scotch Ale. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Jun 13, 2008 This one pours a rich, almost opaque chocolaty brown. Aroma is strong and malty and just a touch sweet. Flavor is rich, remarkably sweet but not cloying, strongly malty with hints of fruit and butterscotch and a nutty trace. There is just a tiny hit of hop bitterness. Very smooth and pleasant to sip. garmonbozia (225), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Jun 9, 2008 Bottle from Liqourama. First beer of this style and I liked it very much. Nice malt and sweetness taste. I found a distinctive taste that I could not make out, but I did enoy this beer very much and will buy again. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Jun 7, 2008 I was let down by this one. This is the 2nd chouffe beer I’ve rated and I loved the first one (doublen IPA). This one didn’t seem right to me. Poured a nice brown, with a fluffy head. So carbonated it sounded like you had just poured a Coke into a glass though. Taste was metallic with too little malt, and almost no hops. And to think I put the Doublen IPA back to get this one... Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 28, 2008 Bottle pours a brown and ruby body with a big white head. Aroma and Flavor is sweet malt, sweet caramel, some burnt malt, and woodiness. Little presence of hops but a noticeable etoh finish. Quinten (955), zaandam, Netherlands May 20, 2008 Dark brown colour, full foamy beige head, full one, caramel, hops, sweets like candy, only wrong thing is: there is only a 75cl bottle to buy. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA May 15, 2008 Mc Chouffe is a deep brown amber color with a very nicely pronounced tan head. The aroma is full of fruit with a nice malted base. The flavor has a great malty base with notes of fruit and caramel. The finish is also very nice.
