Corpo leggermente meno robusto. Buona comunque!!! Meglio ora che quando la produrrà Moortgat WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 28, 2007 750ml bottle. Pours a dark, clear mahogany with a billowy off-white head and good carbonation. Aroma is very well-balanced with both a citrusy bite of hops alongside an earthy hint of malt and yeast. Body is smooth and full with flavors of dark fruit, malt, and molasses giving way to a slowly evolving finish that’s both sweet and strong, almost like a strong dark rum. Another delightful hybrid from Chouffe. Elizavyeta (110), Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 28, 2007 Spicy and heavily apple-like, this Scotch ale’s aroma belies a sweetness with strong hints of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg with a satisfyingly frothy and creamy head.
The flavor reflects a great deal of the aroma but with a more prevalent pear and nut flavor finishing into a quick, somewhat elusive finish.
As with many Belgian ales, this would make a fine dessert beer to be served along side ice cream or a particularly creamy cheese. WabashMan (801), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2007 Pours a nice, dark amber, with thick, light tan head. Nose is nice malty, with strong yeast notes. Flavor is very mild, for the style. Malts and fruit dominate. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Overall, the beer is less than I had hoped. Good, but its Belgian characteristics seem to dominate the characteristics of the style, and it doesn’t really compete with the best Scots Ales. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2007 Bottle sampled. Pours a ruby brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, yeast, floral hops, nuts, and some fruit notes. Flavor is mild and richly carbonated with caramel malts, dark fruit, and a hint of molasses with a malty bitter finish. thegreenrooster (1818), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Pour is a murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma is big malts with some caramel and spice. Flavor is molasses with some candi sugar and toffee. Finish is wood smoke and oak. The flavors are all there but nothing comes out to the forefront to put this in the outstanding category. Still there is enough to find in this beer to be one to try. mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 17, 2007 75cL bottle, from old notes. Pours a deep hazy brown with thick tan foam, great retention and lacing. Big malty aroma, noticeable coriander. Flavor is big on the malt, very little hop flavor and a bit too much coriander for me. Mouthfeel is almost perfect. JohnnyJ (1309), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Pours a dark cloudy reddish brown with a nice tan head. Brown sugar, dark fruit, raisins, caramel, spice, pepper, earthy flavors, and a bit of chocolate. Quite tasty with a medium silky body and moderate carbonation.
