Brun let uklar øl. Duft: let karamel, let bærndt, varm og humlet. Smag: samme. Absolot en af de allerbedste øl jeg har fået. Den er så afstemt og velsmagende at det er en fornøjelse.

75 cl bottle into a tulip glass on 05-31-07 at a great beer shop called Il Fauno in Florence. Dark brown ruby appearance with a 2 finger tan head. Nutty aroma with hints of floral and grassy hops. Nutty with caramel hints like a brown, but dried fruit with esters of grape and apple like a good belgian make up the taste. Finish is more belgian than anything as it has the same esters with a bready/yeasty hint thrown in. Good carbonation and a smooth medium-full body. A very nice beer, indeed! I would liken it to a good brown and a well-balanced dubbel mixed together.

On draught at the New Oxford, Salford 16/03/2007 Malt aroma. Dark coloured smooth on the palate and fruity with some alcohol present. Some dryness in a warming lasting malt finish.

33 cl bottle, "Best Before End 2007." Rating #MCC! (Get it?) Served at about 45°F in a tulip glass. Deep brown with ruby red streaks in the light. Thin, tenacious head. Smell of unwashed sugars, some light fruits. Rich, sugary Belgian dark ale more than Scotch, I think. Caramel malts start to pick up, and a bit of smoke or phenol. Richly carbonated, helping to bring out more of the alcohol. Raisins and dried fruits after that, just a suggestion of cinnamon and crystallized ginger. Mild bitterness really can’t stand up to this Belgian sweetness, but this is well sweetened, not cloying. A great, contemplative brew that, for once, I pulled from my cellar at just the right time.

Pours a deep brown with a frothy white head. Aroma is predominantly brown sugar with slightly-detectable fruits and spices as well. The taste is malt up front with some prune, malt, yeast, and possibly rye notes toward the end. A great offering from Brasserie d’Achouffe.

Sampled in Italy at a local hole in the wall beer bar. Served way too cold - had to wait on it to warm. Huge frothy head - pretty heavily carbonated. Very easily drinkable but not teeming with flavor or anything to write home about.

Pours with beautiful, plentiful head, perfect density, sticks around, nice contrast to murky brown body. Aroma is great with lots of brown sugar and some black pepper. Feels pretty thin and watery, but a bit smooth in mouth, goes down quickly! Tastes of plum, malt, and yeast with a bit of brandy too. Carbonation is good, a little more than most beers, but works well. Spice is nice and expected, but just a shade off from what would really complement the rest of the flavors. Overall, a great, suprisingly easy brew to guzzle down. Just not leaving me with too much reason to go out and buy another.

750ml bottle-thanks to Joe/jwc215 pours a diminishing tan head and brown color with amber tint. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel, bready, medium/dark fruit. Taste is first dry hops character, then sweet medium malt-caramel, bready, medium/dark fruit. Occasional. OK effervescence.
