| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2007 bottle at a tasting. not bad. i just thought it was supposed to be a darker, maltier La Chouffe. which it kinda is. definitely mostly sweet malts, a bit thicker, less alcohol. still belgian yeast esters. patrick767 (2018), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2007 11.2 oz bottle - Pours reddish brown with a moderately sized, foamy head. The aroma is sweet, yeasty, and has some caramel. The malty flavor has some good dark fruit notes hiding in there. It’s medium bodied and goes down easy at 8.5% abv. I hadn’t pegged this as a Scotch Ale as the Belgian character is definitely there. I suppose it’s a hybrid of sorts. Good beer. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 1, 2007 The color was a nice plum/brown with red hues. The head was a creamy frothy light beige. The aroma was hoppy, tart, and a little bit earthy. The flavor was alcohol, slightly bitter, and earthy. The palate was thin/med bodied and smooth. The finish was clean. emacgee (1864), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Pours a textured reddish brown with a thick creamy light tan head. The aroma is very sweet, definite Belgian influence in there, sour yeast smell, light alcohol, and caramel. The flavor doesn’t taste as much like the other Scotch Ales I’ve had. Definite Belgian presence, earthy, alcohol is there, no peat smoke, not terribly complex, raisins and light light spice on the swallow. The palate is full and warm with a popping crispness. The finish shows the alcohol and warms the throat and stomach. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Poured a dark ruby red with a sizeable head. Sweet aroma with some faint peat, but mostly candi sugar . A touch of metal and also some tea accompanying. Somewhat thin with no real depth, which in some way helps in that it doesn’t get cloying. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2007 Bottle 8% (from Bitter Virtue). Toffeish slightly earthy hop presence, dried fruits and chocolate. A little spicy yeastiness. Not as sweet as it initially seems which is a good thing. Alcohol has a slight presence but is not overly noticeable. Full rounded body but not overly sticky. Nice flavours and suprisingly light on its feet. Svesse (2612), Hässelby, Sweden
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2007 (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, rather cloudy, with firm beige head, Malty, fruity, slightly yeasty, nose with dried fruit (prunes, figs) and dark bread. Malty, fruity and spicy taste with dried fruit, liquorice and chocolate. Rather firm body. Nice beer with the traditional tasty, spicy Achouffe character giving it an extra push in the right direction.
