ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Sep 7, 2009 Deep ruby brown with a bubbly off-white head. Rich fruity aroma of plums and dates, with brown sugar and molasses. Sweet malty and fruity flavour, with a touch of alcohol towards the finish. Hopper (277), San Antonio, Texas, USA Aug 31, 2009 An unclear brown beer with a 1 finger head. Aroma of fruit(plums), sour, & leather. The taste was fruity with a watery finish. The alcohol is well hidden, but its only downside is the sour taste. As you get closer to the bottom of your bottle it gets more sour in an unpleasant sort of a way. Maverick34 (686), New York, USA Aug 30, 2009 Pours dark w/white head & lacing. Smell is dark fruit...taste is brown sugar etc. A bit of yeast and bitter to finish. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Aug 28, 2009 Sweet molasses like aroma wafts up from a brown beverage with a thick foamy head. VERY smooth and drinkable - for 8.5%, this is incredibly balanced and smooth. You could chug this stuff. Sweet malt on the palate - brown sugar, toffee, some faint yeasty notes. beerdad (74), Kansas, USA Aug 28, 2009 Bottled. Pours brown, medium to large creamy head. Aromas of malt and caramel also dark and dried fruit. Flavors are similar. Overall, was expecting more flavor, alcohol is present but doesn;’t overpower. Decent but not great. maupie (593), Roosendaal, Netherlands Aug 22, 2009 After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity not wall adhesive light brown foam collar which was fine and evenly of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass.
The beer has aclear dark brown color and a shoppy bitter taste. The after tast of the beer is hoppy bitter with a caramel touch. This beer smells roasted malty. danielyabu (269), União da Vitória, Brazil Aug 15, 2009 Large, creamy, light-brown head. Good lacing. Mostly diminishing longevity. Flat, thick, dark-amber body. Aroma: moderate malty, caramel and dried fruits. IF: moderate sweet and light bitter. FF: light sweetness and moderate bitterness. Long duration, fortunately. Palate: medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation and metallic finish. It tastes like dried fruits, caramel, chocolate - a wonderful taste. The alcohol is perfectly disguised. Liquorous sound when being poured. Lots of lees. 350s timfoolery (482), California, USA Aug 6, 2009 Bottle from The Bottle Shop in Eugene, OR. I figured this one for a fuller beer than we tasted. It was more like champagne/scotch ale. A bit too carbinated, but very tasty regardless.
