1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Oct 17, 2006 33 cl bottle. Best by end of 2006. The beer pours to a hazy dark brown body with no head. The aroma is very earthy, nutty, yeasty, minerals, wood, and some sort of peat. The flavor is peaty, woody, nutty, earthy, minerals, and something strange. But, all in all it tastes decent. Strangely alluring. elektronikfagteknikerlærling (892), kbh, Denmark Oct 15, 2006 tap. amber color. large head. spicy yeasty malt aroma. some dark fruits. a bit mild malty and aley. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 14, 2006 Draft at Duck Island. Pours a clear mahogany with a huge fuffy white head. With La Chouffe already under my belt I was prepared to love this beer, but there just isn’t nearly as much here. To be fair, I have to admit that I tried it right after a pretty amazing DIPA, but still... not much here. A bit of toffee and wood in the nose. The taste is sweet with caramel malt, and a bit of fruit and nuts. I’m thinking these guys should stick to Belgians and the occasional Belgian IPA. lululegrand (94), gent, Belgium Oct 11, 2006 Dark brown beer withbeige foam. Ok. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Sep 24, 2006 Pours brown - cloudy, opaque - with a thin, light tan head that leaves a heavy lace on the glass. The aroma has a lot of chocolate, some maple syrup, some spices, some grassy notes, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is very nutty, very chocolatey, some maple syrup, sweet malts, mild taste of funky yeast and fruitiness, and mild hop bitterness. Alcohol is also perceptible in the flavor, but barely so. The beer finishes somewhat dry. The mouthfeel is creamy, bubbly, and not too thick.
