Aroma is strongly malty with a very nice yeast aroma as well. Flavor is wonderful, mallty, nutty, delicous yeast and earth. Mouthfeel is perfect, soft, creamy, perfect carbonation. Nobody can touch the Belgians in terms of palate. Wonderful stuff!!! gunnfryd (3568), Kristiansand, Norway

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Pours brown - cloudy, opaque - with a thin, light tan head that leaves a heavy lace on the glass. The aroma has a lot of chocolate, some maple syrup, some spices, some grassy notes, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is very nutty, very chocolatey, some maple syrup, sweet malts, mild taste of funky yeast and fruitiness, and mild hop bitterness. Alcohol is also perceptible in the flavor, but barely so. The beer finishes somewhat dry. The mouthfeel is creamy, bubbly, and not too thick. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA

Unfortunally not as widely available as La Chouffe. Rustic, like a abbay double. Nice herbal and caramel taste. Real comfort drink. Visit www.achouffe.be or better the brewery. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 12, 2006 Pours a deep russet brown with a foamy, soapy, off-white head. Aroma is warming with notes of dark malts, brown sugar and toffee. The body is medium and lush. The flavors are caramelly, oh-so-balanced, chocolate with a ton of heat that really detracts from the overall experience. Maybe needs a few years.
