750ml bottle: Poured a lovely mahogany with a lot of lacing from the tan head. Fruity aroma, with a big caramel nose. Flavor was sweet with chocolate, melon, and fig. Silky smooth body that just was really satisfying.

draft. Very dark, almost black appearance with decent head that stays. Very nice hoppy aroma. The taste is awesome with a lite carbonation and a well balanced body. Slightly sweet with a hint of brown sugar and raisins. Very good on draft. Cheers! Update: 750ml - still great taste. What I love about this beer is the sweet malty background you get as your drinking it. Outstanding.

Pours opaque dark brown w/ full semi creamy froth. The aroma is like a nose in a bag of chilled dried fruit. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are strong and semi sweet w/ an alcoholic warming. Cherry, raison, apricot, nectarine, slight medicine, oak bark, gravel, brown sugar. A very complex brew. Didn’t open up upon warming. I expected some biscuit/ pancake flavors to come forth but nothing of the sort. Just dried fruit.

On draught at the Tap House in Norfok, Va. Pours a deep amber-prune into the glass, with an off-white head, mild retention and sticky lacing. The bouquet consists of dark fruits, primarily raisins and plums.... very subtle, but comforting nonetheless. The flavors consist of dark, sweet(er) fruits.... raisins, prunes, plums.... also intermingling are marachino cherries and light alcohol notes. The finish is aromatic, and of sweet dark cherries and a mild astringent alcohol. This is really a great brew, served best slightly above (very) cold and in a thistle or snifter.

Bottle 750ml. The appearance is mahogany (Dark black/brown) with thick creamy light brown head. The aroma has floral hops, caramel malt, yeast, and fruit. The flavor is malty with toffee and fruit, caramel, sugar with a hint of nuts. The aftertaste has a little chocolate.

750ml bottle. Poured murky, bubbly copper-brown into a goblet with a large, rapidly-diminishing, foamy tan head. Gorgeous sticky lacing. Rich malt and yeast character on the nose, dark fruits and horseblanket, dark bread and just a little champagne. First taste is sour with assertive (but not unpleasant) alcohol, very spicy with a little biscuit. Almost reminds me more of a tripel. Vinous notes and some vanilla. Short, medium-sweet finish with a little bitterness and a whisp of smoke on the back end, with lingering sweetness in the aftertaste. Rich, chewy, lively palate with tingly, slightly warming alcohol. Tastes very Belgian rather than particularly Scotch, but a very enjoyable beer nonetheless.

Clear reddish brown ale with a thick moka head. Herbal hops, like gras, with coriander notes and smoket peated. Some dandelion develops later. In mouth, a chocolate malt with herbs, dandelion and gin alcohol, with hints of licorice" medium bodied. Bottle at L’Autre Oeil, July 26, 2006.

Pous dark brown, with a bit of haziness, with a large off white head. Aroma is spicy, bit of malty caramel, but floral. Flavor is caramel, but of bitterness, sugar. Finish is not that long but mouthfeel is nice. Very interesting, as it still tastes like a belgian, but not really in a belgian style.
