KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Jul 14, 2006 Boittle. Pours dark brown with a nice head and delicate lacing. Aroma is an old barn that once housed spices and hay. Earthy tones in the nose as well. Very spicy flavor, with cinammony yeast being very noticeable. A bit of carrot seems to be in the finish somewhere. Very earthy and demanding. Palate presents a quickly fading flavor that leaves an acidic bitterness. It’s a little better than average. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2006 It gives a very unique aroma of perfume and floral hops. Taste is very floral as well, reminds me of a garden nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2006 The aroma has floral hops, caramel malt, yeast, and fruit. The appearance is mahogany with a persistent head. The flavor is malty with toffee and fruit. The palate is OK. The aftertaste has a little chocolate. While this is good I was expecting more. TheEpeeist (1429), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2006 11.2 oz bottle. Fluffy tan head sits on a clear purple-brown. Leaves patches of lace. Malty, medicinal grape with butterscotch underneath. Light woody smoked raisins with some metallic sourness; carrot aftertaste. Medium light with light carb. MaBeer1972 (421), Leominster, Massachusetts, USA Jul 10, 2006 That commercial description is pretty short and lame. It’s much more that that. This is a wonderful brew! Deep and chewy. Malty nice, like I like. PWalk (337), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 6, 2006 Sweeter than I expected it to be. Very nice malty character throughout the beer with some hops in it but not much. Spicy on the palate with plenty of alcohol present. Good beer and one I am going to keep an eye out for. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Jun 28, 2006 [bottle] Brown amber color, with a relentless, fluffy head. Aroma is alcohol, and sweet sugar. Flavors are yeast, nutty malts and a slight bitterness. A unique take on the Scotch style- I like it a lot. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA Jun 28, 2006 Dark brown/amber color, sweet malty/nutty aroma... flavor was spicy, nutty, malty...maybe even slightly hoppy (unexpectedly so). The alcohol wasn’t all that well-hidden, which isn’t necessarily a negative aspect for me...overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable beer.
