legion242 (1572), Richardson, Texas, USA Mar 16, 2006 Pretty nice, though mild for the style I thought. The malt isn’t as peaty as I would have expected. PorterPounder (3131), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Mar 16, 2006 Whole Foods, Baton Rouge, La. 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper with a pillowy, soft, khaki colored head with sticky lacing. Sweet candy-like aroma with hints of Christmas spices and candied apples. Flavor is sweet as well, some caramel, cotton candy, root beer and finishes with a bit of baked brown bread. Alcohol is noticed - feels a bit higher than 8.5%. Mouthfeel, not as thick as expected. All around decent. but expected just a bit more. smcd (366), USA Mar 15, 2006 A tasty brew that everyone should try again and again. Hopefully Delirium Cafe will even have a bottle next time. Aromas of fruit and candi sugar. A deep, dark brown with a nice, thick tan head. Flavors of pale malt, deceptively simple, accented by candi sugar and caramel notes ... again, some hints of dried fruits. A nice, full palate. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 14, 2006 Murky brown with a lacy head of tiny bubbles. Vinuous, grape bubblegum, dark cherry, currant, vanillin and popcorn aromas. Bright, oaky malts, nutty, with a savory fruit finish. Tight carbonation. Maybe a little short on palate. A delicate scotch ale. ElPresidente1984 (173), Maine, USA Mar 11, 2006 Im not sure if i’ve even tried a scotch ale before. but this beer seemed alot like a belgian strong or even an abbey Quad. pours a cloudy brown, with a large active head. aroma of bread, fruit and some sweet malts. taste is of sweet malts, ripend fruit and some other things i can put my finger on. from what i remember of last night it seemed very good and easy to drink. of course that might be because i had a few stronger beers before this one. JK (2944), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Mar 10, 2006 Much more of a Belgian style rather than a Scotch ale, it is much like a quad or dubbel. The aroma has yeast, sweet fruit and malt. Very dark brown and a cloud of sediment. Sweet flavor that is best at room temperature. Some alcohol presence that may or may not show depending on how much you drink in any one sip. Full bodied. I would change the style on this one, but a good beer no matter what its called. Cable (286), SE, Oklahoma, USA Mar 9, 2006 Sampled from bottle. Pours murky chocolate brown with a creamy tan head. Fruity esters, spice and sweet malts fill out the aroma. The flavor is rich with malts - fresh bread and chocolate really stand out. Raisins and prunes present as well with a good spicy kick. Full-bodied, well carbonated and warming. A well made beer, but not the best from this brewer. I totally don’t get the deal with the "Mc" in the name. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Mar 6, 2006 In the bottle at the Red Monk during the 2006 Crescent Moon Beer Bus Trip. Brown in color with a fantastic long lingering chocolate and raisin aroma. This went over so well that the bartender had to say, "Everyone calm down...it’s just beer." Delicious plum and raisin flavor with a thick malty brown blanket. Delightful.
