Vinuous, grape bubblegum, dark cherry, currant, vanillin and popcorn aromas. Bright, oaky malts, nutty, with a savory fruit finish. Tight carbonation. Maybe a little short on palate. A delicate scotch ale. ElPresidente1984 (173), Maine, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2006 Much more of a Belgian style rather than a Scotch ale, it is much like a quad or dubbel. The aroma has yeast, sweet fruit and malt. Very dark brown and a cloud of sediment. Sweet flavor that is best at room temperature. Some alcohol presence that may or may not show depending on how much you drink in any one sip. Full bodied. I would change the style on this one, but a good beer no matter what its called. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Sampled from bottle. Pours murky chocolate brown with a creamy tan head. Fruity esters, spice and sweet malts fill out the aroma. The flavor is rich with malts - fresh bread and chocolate really stand out. Raisins and prunes present as well with a good spicy kick. Full-bodied, well carbonated and warming. A well made beer, but not the best from this brewer. I totally don’t get the deal with the "Mc" in the name. SledgeJr (2960), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Brown in color with a fantastic long lingering chocolate and raisin aroma. This went over so well that the bartender had to say, "Everyone calm down...it’s just beer." Delicious plum and raisin flavor with a thick malty brown blanket. Delightful. TomDecapolis (3162), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 4, 2006 Poured a reddish brown amber with a large foamy lighter tan head that laced. Aroma was a bit spicy, a lighter roastiness, dark fruits and yeast. Flavor of the same with a light hint of citrus. FrankJohansen (3367), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2006 Poured a dark red with a thick, long lasting, off white head. Aroma is of plums and holiday spices. Flavors are also reminiscent of these with the addition of green apple, pear, and cherry. There is also a subtle earthy, herbal hop character present. A little dry for a scotch ale but it makes for a lighter, more warm weather brew.
