donfardz64 (406), Wellington, New Zealand Jul 11, 2009 Pours quite a dark, cloudy brown with a red tinge. Tan head.
Aroma has a lot of caramel, there’s a little alcohol there with a hint of dark fruit there.
It tastes full of dark fruit and spices, can taste some yeast too. Initially sweet, then balanced nicely by a complex herbaceous flavour. A perhaps oft underrated, amazing beer. ha1ag (415), Maastricht, Netherlands Jul 8, 2009 Bottled from AH in Mestreech. A bit hazy reddish brown color, hard tan head, not too thick. More than average carbonated. Aroma is sweet, with malts, yeast and berries. Flavour is sweetend, stingy alcoholic, turns into a pleasant long-lasting bitterness. Very well-made! Nightfall (645), Athens, Greece Jul 7, 2009 Bottle. Brown color with a huge head. Fruity aromas. Sweet flavor (over-sweet to be exact for my taste). If there were some hops to balance this it would be an outstanding beer. now it’s just good. Taste is malt, sugars and some yeast. Nice bright mouthfeel. Sessionable and good alc content. Nice! robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jun 17, 2009 pours a semi-clear brown with a small beige head, lively carbonation, and great lacing.
smell of some spice, and some malt.
taste is light, spice, malt, and brown sugar, end is a little spicy and dry. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jun 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours a great reddish-brown with a pale tan head that quickly reduces, with no real lacing to speak of. Nose is full of toffee, raisin, nuts, wine gums, taffy, grapes. Nose is obviously Belgian and very sweet, with just a hint of sour cherry that slowly becomes more assertive as the beer warms. A hint of funk is present, but only just. Palate is more red fruit, jellies, candies, a sour turn is present, like a sour cherry Jolly Rancher, that keeps this beer interesting. Soft plums and caramel on the finish.
