Sten (288), Westerlo, Belgium Oct 22, 2005 A black-reddish appearance with a light brown head. The aroma is sweet and fruity. The taste sweet and a bit yeasty. Nothing special. (Bottle 75cl) beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA Oct 13, 2005 Bottle. Ruddy clearn dark brown pour (decanted off yeast very nicely). Somewhat fruity malt aroma and yeast, touch of smoke. More of the same in flavors, but definitely bready as well. Nicely spiced, and a little warming, but hides alcohol good. CampbellWilson (533), Scotland Oct 10, 2005 Bottle from Peckham’s. Fairly sure nobody in Scotland ever made anything like this! Dark brown, beige head. Aroma of fruity malt, smoke, spice, yeast. Warming mouthfeel with pleasant warming finish. Lovely drop. temporrari (327), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 9, 2005 Updated: Oct 27, 2007Bottle - Best Before End 2008. Deep brown pour, large light tan head which maintains throughout. Aroma is bready, malty, fruity, Belgian yeast. Wow. This stuff is delicious. Spicy, bready, lots of darker fruits and yeast, sweet malty finish. This has many layers of flavor. It really is a scotch ale/Blegian strong ale. Slight warming from ABV, but barely noticed on the palate. How have I overlooked this for so long? Damn, damn good. ervan (37), Redwood City, California, USA Oct 6, 2005 Dunno, about this one. Seemed thin and watery, not standing up to any other flavors on my palate (having it with dinner). But the reviews speak differently... maybe I’ll try this again and throw it in the cellar for a year or two. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Oct 3, 2005 brown colored pour, sort of weak tasting and smelling. malty as hell, no real alcohol presence, fruity sort of. i dont know this is a style that i am not really keen on, and actually i didnt know it was this style when i got it. on style points id give this a 3.8 or 4, but i dont really enjoy it as much as i have other beers, so ill rate based on that. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Oct 1, 2005 Tap at Andy’s. Brown with red higlights and light brown head. Good lacing. Nose was fruit and good yeast. Fine mouth feel. Malty after taste. Very Nice. iratherbe (255), Marlton, New Jersey, USA Sep 30, 2005 Love this line by my friend " ... dances on the palate." Though my bro thinks highly of this too, he remarks it then recedes gracefully from the palate. Interesting! AS for me: way closer to a Belgian Ale than Scotch, nicely toned yeast strain, hearty malty sweetness with a fine smooth finish, stout brown in color and refreshing body. Well done.
