harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 29, 2005 75cl bottle from Belgium. Very red brown colour with beige thickish head. Lovely smell of rich malt and red berries. Some yeast and strong belgian ale aromas. Good in mouth. More rich malts and berries on the end. Lovely jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA Sep 28, 2005 Pours murky brown with a tan head that recedes quickly. Huge aroma of spices, yeast, plum, toffee, and brown sugar. Pretty intense flavor, as well. Matches the aroma, for the most part, though it is a little sweeter than the aroma suggested. Some phenols toward the end. Very good woody aftertaste.
bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Sep 22, 2005 Bottle. Brownish beer with a reddish tint and nice creamy beige head. Spicey yeast aroma with sweet malt backing. Spice and banana flavor with some earthiness and malt. Finishes dry with a slight alcohol warming. A little plum fruitiness. thebeertourist (2751), Oslo, Norway Sep 18, 2005 Dark brown with a moderate, though lasting tan head. Nose is yeasty and complex. Sweet fruit flavours develops into a dry finish with roasted notes. Mouthfeel is soft like velvet, medium body. Overall, a nicely balanced beer that should not upset anyone. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Sep 13, 2005 750ml. bottle. Surprised I’ve never rated this, having had it many times. Clear brown color with a large frothy tan head. Spicy, yeasty aroma with just a hint of raisins. Starts off mildly sweet before turning drier and bitter on the finish. Spicy bread-like flavor with a touch of toffee. mephisto (1144), Taiwan Aug 31, 2005 my style of beer, though not the best of its kind. amber w/ a huge head. fruity, caramelly aroma. rather sweet, though there is enough complexity to justify it. malty and decent, but missing something. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Aug 9, 2005 Ah at last i try this fellow, seen it so many times. This is the type of beer im always looking for, complex, malty, infinate flavour. Ah need to get another. also alcohol well hidden. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2005 Decadantly frothy, creamy tan head rests lovingly atop a ruby tinged bold brown body. Toffee sweet malt almost overpowers but then brown sugar drew me in and introduced me to some nice yeastiness. Perhaps some raisin and caramel flavours but mostly just a mildly spicy warming body. Mouth-coating sweetness is cut lightly in the end. Very nice.
