| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 28, 2005 Bottle. Pours a hazy ruby-brown with a large light-brown head. Fairly mild aroma of malt, pepper, alcohol, sugar and dark fruit. Flavour follows the aroma. Looks carbonated but doesn’t taste it -- it tasted flat and watery. Dissapointing, I much preferred La Chouffe -- maybe a bad bottle? Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2003 When this beer was poured into my glass, it had a large tan head with fine-small sized bubbles that was fully diminishing. The body was mostly clear with lively carbonation observed. The nose was that of alcohol and some mild clove. The flavor was spicy and malty and the mouthfeel was tingly along with a burning sensation as it is swallowed. TheBeerGod (3167), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2003 Pours a rich, deep, hazed brown with a small tannish white head. Aroma of cinnamon or nutmeg, bittersweet chocolate, and some earthiness. More spice and earthiness on the tongue along with cocoa and slight citrus. Very good. Somewhat more warming than I expected for only 8.5%. Not overpowering, though. Finishes with a bitter spiciness remaining.
