Dark brown appearance with a slightly frothy head. Fresh aroma with a malted roasted flavour. Palatable and very good.

Whole Foods, Baton Rouge, La. 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper with a pillowy, soft, khaki colored head with sticky lacing. Sweet candy-like aroma with hints of Christmas spices and candied apples. Flavor is sweet as well, some caramel, cotton candy, root beer and finishes with a bit of baked brown bread. Alcohol is noticed - feels a bit higher than 8.5%. Mouthfeel, not as thick as expected. All around decent. but expected just a bit more.

Bottled 750ml. -Dark brown coloured, medium sized off-white head, malty and prunes nose. Very malty, caramel and some spices with notes of dried fruits, burnt sugar and alcohol. A way too sweet beer.

11.2 oz bottle purchased at John’s Grocery in Iowa City. No date. Poured a clear chestnut orange color. Head was rocky, off white-yellow, and reduced to one finger in height after a minute or two. A bit of lace was left on the glass at the end. Aroma was predominantly of brown sugar and light alcohol, but there was also a whiff of dried fruits such as cherry and raisin. Unexpectedly, the carbonation was on the low end of the spectrum. Delicately sweet and medium bodied. Velvety mouth feel, especially at the end. Plum juice, smooth malty caramel and toffee flavors dominated, but the driedfruits in the nose also emerged in the flavor. A nutty note and a bit of alcohol came out at the end. Disappointingly, I didn’t get any smoke in the nose or flavor. Decent beer, but a hint of campfire might give it some extra oomph.

Rating 200. 750ml bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a small puffy tan head. The nose is malty and slightly sweet. The taste is really right on. It is sweet, malty and tangy with bits of caramel and a variety of malt flavors. Delicious.

(Slightly opened bottle while in transport, 0.7l). Dark brown colored, very big and thick yellow head. Cloudy appearance. Spices, anis, chocolate and mild alcohol in aroma. Medium bodied. Spices, medium alcohol, mild chocolate, anis and sweetness in flavor, somehow watery palate.

Perfect dark-brown color. Mild malty taste. Bit chocolate, raisins. Brewn for the darker days of the year, but delicious throughout all of the year!

Scotch ales, love em, indeed I do! Nice brown pour wtih a wonderful tan colored head. Toffee, syrup, malt, caramel, vanilla on the nose and the tongue. Sweet, but not cloying at all. Delicous. I think I need to go get one soon!
