Toffee, syrup, malt, caramel, vanilla on the nose and the tongue. Sweet, but not cloying at all. Delicous. I think I need to go get one soon! presario (2997), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2004 Big head on a dark coppery-brown liquid. Cloudiness depends on which part of the bottle you are pouring. Strong musty yeast and alcohol aroma. Cold, the alcohol is more pronounced. Drink closer to room temperature and the body and flavours stand out. Smooth and malty. Chocolate and toffee. Almost as delicious as La Chouffe. Thanks to TimE and Poperinge for these two. quite lively beer that came out by itself as i got the cap off. no big spill though, and pouring made it relax. clear dark amber, smooth but a bit fluffy at first light brown head.
malty, nutty, dark fruity, mild spicy aroma.figs, blue berries, cardemom, mild alc aroma.
flavor is fruity, moderately boozy, mild to moderatly spicy, flavor is malty, ever so slighlty mild blue berry sourish, mild nutty, well blended. spices could be cardemom.
comes off as a very well brewed well rounded brune beer, of the not-so-sour kind. SledgeJr (2966), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 6, 2006 In the bottle at the Red Monk during the 2006 Crescent Moon Beer Bus Trip. Brown in color with a fantastic long lingering chocolate and raisin aroma. This went over so well that the bartender had to say, "Everyone calm down...it’s just beer." Delicious plum and raisin flavor with a thick malty brown blanket. Delightful. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2006 Much more of a Belgian style rather than a Scotch ale, it is much like a quad or dubbel. The aroma has yeast, sweet fruit and malt. Very dark brown and a cloud of sediment. Sweet flavor that is best at room temperature. Some alcohol presence that may or may not show depending on how much you drink in any one sip. Full bodied. I would change the style on this one, but a good beer no matter what its called. ante (2956), Stockholm, Sweden

Hints of almond and alcohol. Nice. Sweet roasted malt, brown sugar, pepper, hazelnuts. Sweet finish, notes of chocolate, nuts and spices. A fantastic beer! shrubber85 (2943), Wallhalben, Germany
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 20, 2006 Bottle. Orange, plum and grass aroma. Cloudy orange brown color with small head. Flavor primarily of celery with hints of grass and orange. Grassy flavor last long after swallowing. Not nearly as sweet as some scotch ales I’ve had but the weedy taste was not to my liking. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA
