| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 21, 2008 Bottle: Pours a nice rusty maroon color with a dense, creamy tan head. The aroma has great malt character with notes of toffee, fig, lots of plummy character and just the slightest earthy touch. Great creamy body. The flavor has some toasted toffee, cocoa, plummy notes, some grape like fruitiness, some warming/pleasant booze like qualities, yet it remains balanced with a toasted residual Belgian malt note into the finish. Nice stuff, and a nice Belgian-style interpretation of a Scotch Ale. Pailhead (2602), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2005 Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma is fruity with a moderate apple presence, yeast, and a touch of caramel. Pours a somewhat transparent amber with an off-white head that lasts a minute or so. Lots of caramel with a hint of chocolate. Finishes lightly yeasty with some fruity tartness. Lively carbonation in the mouthfeel. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2009 11 ounce goblet - $9.75 at Taco Mac in Buford, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours an opaque, dark brown body with a thin wisp of white froth on top.
Smell: Aroma replete with plenty of fruitiness and lightly wafting alcohol and notes of spice, dark bread, dark candi sugar, and maybe even some syrup as well.
Taste: Dark brown breadiness sweetened with dark candi sugar and a firm caramel flavor. Fruity additions of black cherry cola, figs, and red currants. Earthy, herbal hops with a medium-low bitterness. Dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. Light warming touches of alcohol. Renewed tastes of sweet breadiness, now with a touch of maple prior to the warming, semi-dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A reasonably pleasant, enjoyable ale, and, though the alcohol isn’t entirely hidden, it isn’t ever glaring, making for a relatively easy-drinking brew. Paired well with the rockin’ mid-90’s tunes playing at Taco Mac. 1FastSTi (2575), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 17, 2006 33 cl bottle. Best by end of 2006. The beer pours to a hazy dark brown body with no head. The aroma is very earthy, nutty, yeasty, minerals, wood, and some sort of peat. The flavor is peaty, woody, nutty, earthy, minerals, and something strange. But, all in all it tastes decent. Strangely alluring. Nate (2556), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2005 Malty fruity aroma, bit of chocolate. Light floral hops and some astringency, anise. Hazy dark brown with creamy light tan lacing head. Medium watery body with medium-high carbonation. Starts medium sweet with chocolate malts, light toffee, and mild acidity. Neutral fruit notes throughout, with smooth hoppy bitterness balancing out the malty sweet character. Finish is mild bitter with barnyard leathery notes, Belgian yeast. After is light nutty bitter but not astringent. Bockyhorsey (2552), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2005 A malty sweet and sour aroma for this one. Rusty red body, tan fizzy head. Funny the head as it disipated made a sound as if you just lit a firecracker. Glad the glass didn’t blow up. Medium bodied brew with some mild bitterness and medium sweet and sour flavor. Smooth on palate alcohol hardly noticable. dwyerpg (2545), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 18, 2005 This is one that you’ve had and always assumed rated, so it was a surprise to have not found it on my list. Toffee nose, slightly woody, but mostly yeast - very sweet aromas. Mahogany color, foamy beige head. Caramelly malt base, vanilla, maple syrup, dainty dry end. Some cinnamon spiciness. Fully body, smooth and real classy. Fabulous.
