Pours a murky muddy brown with visible carbonation running up the side of my Duvel tulip and an above average size frothy bubbly off white head. Yeasty aroma with notes of bread and raisin. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a dry bread like feel on the palate but the alcohol is hidden nicely. Flavor of yeast, bread and slight vinous notes on the back of the throat. Not really sure why this is a Scotch Ale other then becaue it’s called Mc, actually as a Scotch Ale it should be Mac Chouffe!! RCL (1480), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2008 75cl bottle. Opaque brown with a tenacious beige head composed of quite small bubbles. Plenty of sediment, and lace as well. The aroma is a lot of dough and wine, with some malt sweetness. The flavor is yeasty with some alcohol, and the malts feed a little sweet caramel into the equation. Peppery and dry aftertaste. The body felt pretty light and smooth for the abv, and this makes it drink like a much lighter beer. An interesting beer. The yeast really dominated the flavor for me, as opposed to dark, smokey malts as I would expect in a scotch. Definitely Belgian in origin. I would try it again, but it’s not cheap around here.
