| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Pours opaque dark brown w/ full semi creamy froth. The aroma is like a nose in a bag of chilled dried fruit. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are strong and semi sweet w/ an alcoholic warming. Cherry, raison, apricot, nectarine, slight medicine, oak bark, gravel, brown sugar. A very complex brew. Didn’t open up upon warming. I expected some biscuit/ pancake flavors to come forth but nothing of the sort. Just dried fruit. robinvboyer (1436), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 12, 2006 Very dark brown/ruby. Large, dense, tan head. Aroma of bready yeast, grainy malt, earth, and subtle spice. For the flavor add some toasty notes. Dry, yeasty finish and aftertaste bring peat and dark fruits, a strange pair to arrive at the same time. Alcohol is evident in the palate, but not the taste. Full body is a little more carbonated than balanced. Let it sit for awhile. Very nice lacing. Definitely more flavor coming out as it approaches room temperature. Why do I even bother chilling them? Most of the good ones are a hell of a lot better at room temp. More peaty malt, dark fruit, and earthy, anise like spice in both flavor and aroma. Great brew. Now I’m looking for the Nice Chouffe, too bad it’s April. Allen (1412), Switzerland
