Oct 9, 2006 Beer pours attractive dark mahogeny color with a big, then totally retained beige colored head. Aroma is strongly malty with a very nice yeast aroma as well. Flavor is wonderful, mallty, nutty, delicous yeast and earth. Mouthfeel is perfect, soft, creamy, perfect carbonation. Nobody can touch the Belgians in terms of palate. Wonderful stuff!!!

Nov 23, 2004 Pours brown, with a vigorous head that dies almost immediately. Aromas are malt, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor starts out sweet, with spice, malt, and a bit of mustiness.

Jun 25, 2003 Tap, Falling Rock Tap House, Denver. Light sweet liquorice aroma. Dark sweet malt flavor. Strong liquorice flavor. Off dry, slightly astringent finish. Straightforward.

Aug 24, 2002 Clear cola amber with a medium sized shortish lasting tan head. Grainy malt caramel hoppy aroma and flavours. Alcohol shows through when warmed. Medium to light body with well balanced bitter sweet palate with alcohol showing through relatively early. Finish is soft alcohol and caramel. Not as smooth or perhaps as well balanced as the Bok or La Chouffe but still highly drinkable.

Dec 19, 2003 0.25 L draft serving, Mc Chouffe glass. Tall, foamy, off-white head is slowly diminishing and sits on a deep brown body with ruby highlights. Nutty, toasted rye bread malt (M); flowery hops (L); toffee and various candi sugar aromas. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a moderately sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic, lightly sour finish. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: a little sour, but strong a nutty otherwise; a decent scotch ale.

Jun 24, 2005 25oz - Sweet yeasty aroma with red grapes, cherry, and a touch of vanilla. Pours a huge head with a great thick lacing over a cola looking brown body. Flavor is also sweet and yeasty with carmel malt to smooth it out. Nice spice kick too. Palate is a bit dull and slick. Not bad.
