750ml. bottle. Surprised I’ve never rated this, having had it many times. Clear brown color with a large frothy tan head. Spicy, yeasty aroma with just a hint of raisins. Starts off mildly sweet before turning drier and bitter on the finish. Spicy bread-like flavor with a touch of toffee.

Bottled. Beer is clear medium-dark brown with a small, off-white, frothy, mostly diminishing but lasting head.
The aroma is malty with moderate/heavy notes of toasted grain, moderate caramely toasted bread crust, shortbread; Hoppy with moderate notes of resin/pine, honeysuckle; Yeasty with a light doughy note of basement; Moderate miscellaneous note of spicy, woody alcohol, syrupy stone fruit.
The flavor is moderate/heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter with a long, warm, moderately sweet, trace bitter finish.
The body is full, the texture is watery/velvety and the carbonation is lively.
Lots of layers and rich warmth.

Bottle: Deep ruby brown color with a yellow/tan head. Medium - full body, highly carbonated. Aroma: fruits(apple, plum, pear, mild grapefruit), spice, yeast, sweet caramel malt, pine. Taste: sweet and somewhat syrupy, notes of grains, caramel, pepper, yeast, maple, earth, mild grapefruit zest, honey. Finishes dry, with strange mix of honey and a mild tart malt. Very nice.

dunno why i once thought this was so great, i must've been easily impressed at the time. this is better than what mcdonald's would do to a belgian ale, but not that much better. it's mahogany, same colour as my piano, but a bit redder (i haven't flashlight tested my piano). big flavours of gingerbread, dry chocolate cake, roasted nuts, along with some rounded mellow malt (but not much), finishing with slight phenol, cooked apple, salt and pepper. quite sharp and tingly flavours - not fat and malty like scotch silly (but on the plus side, not too sweet). aroma is brandy, allspice, coriander, and fruity yeast. there are good elements in there, just maybe not enough guts to carry it all - mouthfeel in short is the main problem, it;s just a bit thin and fizzy. have put one away till 2006, hope it gets better.rer8: another bottle was much more caramelly and sweet, although still strangely lightbodied. not a very complex or staggering creation really.

750 ml bottle purchased @ Ashur liquor. Created a dark opaque brown liquid topped by a creamy stout like head. The aroma has an old dead yeast and cardboard smell with some worthy notes of spice still. The flavor has some yeast and spice still and is actually good considering it has started to fall apart in its old age but its creamy texture and light touch of spices makes for a pleasant session.

Bottle at the Flying Saucer in downtown Raleigh during the new 4$ for 7oz of Belgian anything night. Mahogany color, hazy, medium fizzy off-white head. Aroma is cloves, and caramel. and a hint of yeast. Flavor is fruity--plum, peach, apple, raisin, and spicy--ginger? Very smooth. Delicious.

Appealing translucent brown pour with off-white head. Aroma of orange, plum and sweet malts that follows through in the flavor. Acidic notes in the aftertaste in the form of a slight sourness in addition to some very slight peppery notes. Thin body and lots of fizz. Enjoyed this.

Robe brune claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche persistente. Arômes de fruits rouges et de levure. Saveurs de malt caramel, d’anis étoilée, de coriandre et de levures.
