Big creamy brown head, long lasting. Black body. Rather sweet start, not bitter, the aftertaste is only a little bit alcoholic.
On the palate the beer is rather medium, creamy and dry with a little bit more carbonation. A really nice beer!

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2004 I especially enjoyed the aroma of this beer. Earthy, some hops, also some cherry notes. Very pleasant. The beers pours a cherry copper colour with a nice frothy head. Sweetish flavours, with chocolate, mustiness and a strong alcohol finish. Palate is lively but low on malt. Overall an enjoyable beer. loweredsixth (942), Fresno, California, USA

The aroma was sweet...caramel, sugar, earthy, dirt, wood. The flavor was similar to the aroma but with a distinct alcohol component. Very soft feel...wet finish. VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2002 Best before date - End 2006. Semi-hazy amber/copper with a thick and sticky light tan head. Moderate carbonation. Yeasty and light tangy peat aroma mixed with spicy hops. Bubbly body, very young tasting and not integrated with no one flavor dominating. Nice full Belgian yeast mouthfull, but the body is lacking. Light to medium body with no thick malt backbone. It’s there but not very evident. Light sweetness and a very very light peat essence. Head remains solid and sticky throughout. Spicy Saaz hoppiness takes over towards the end. Adding the yeast mellows the brew and also adds some bitter fruit and mild banana flavors. Aging should mellow this into a beauty. This one is obviously way too young. VTHopHead (934), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2009 Draft - Poured a hazy brown with a thick off-white head that stuck around. Aroma is yeasty, fruity, malty and slightly sweet. Flavor is strong with yeast and sweet malts... some dark fruits and nuts. A bit too sweet for me, but still a quality brew. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 15, 2003 Deep mahogony with a huge off white head. Nose of pears, caramel, with a hint of black pepper. Funny musty caramel flavor with some touches of fruit--apples, pears, bananas; medium sweet, some chocolate notes. Slight nutty bitterness in the finish. Relatively thin mouthfeel. fata2683 (930), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2008 75cl poured into a pint glass. Nice light brown with red tints. Light beige head. Smells nice and yeasty with some alcohol on the nose. Good flavors of candied sugar, light carmel, finishes with a sharp bitterness that fades to a light alcohol end. The moderate to heavy carbonation works well and keeps the mouth crisp with the flavors popping. The end feels slightly creamy. Excellent head retention and a very nice beer.
