Dark mahogany color with a good head and lacing, just right for the style. Enough carbonation to keep my chimay glass busy with it’s bubblicious column of aromomatic generation. The aroma has is lightly malty like a scotch but has a definate belgian quality to it. A bit of sweet malts and vinous hops. The flavor has a good amount of alcohol with some dark malts and tart toffee. Finishes very belgian with some bottle conditioned yeasyness and a little tart kick. Not too bad, unique scotch for sure though.

Deep reddish brown colour. I’m not generally a fan of sweet beers and the big sweet malt and molasses aroma suggested I might struggle with this one. But, once in the mouth it was surprisingly dry (if not very dry) with lots of burnt caramel and a woody, vinous edge. Lots of plummy fruit and nuts. Also a bit herbal. Mouth filling but not cloying. Nice beer. 750ml bottle, January 2005.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a huge light brown head that lasted. Good spice malt aroma with a small alcohol tone. Medium body with a sticky texture. Good toasted malt flavor with a moderate spicy finish. Very good brown ale.

This beer is full of character and taste. Earthy with fruit, chocolate, caramel and coffee. Spicy on the finish. Chouffe are good at this beer lark!

Draught - White Horse - Parsons Green London SW6. A deep brown coloured beer with some candy sugar in both the aroma and taste. There is some spritziness to it but it is thin and not really reminiscent of a Scotch ale IMO.

Big thanks to my brother for gifting me this for Christmas. Semi-turbid ruby pour with a huge, creamy white head. Aroma of malt, hopcit, fruit, peat. Tastes malty, fruity, with some hops and added fruit at the finish. Firm, dense palate, and a great balance and complexity. This one kicks ass and takes names.

Deep ruby brown with a bubbly off-white head. Rich fruity aroma of plums and dates, with brown sugar and molasses. Sweet malty and fruity flavour, with a touch of alcohol towards the finish.

Clear reddish brown ale with a thick moka head. Herbal hops, like gras, with coriander notes and smoket peated. Some dandelion develops later. In mouth, a chocolate malt with herbs, dandelion and gin alcohol, with hints of licorice" medium bodied. Bottle at L’Autre Oeil, July 26, 2006.
