Bottle (BB 2011). Head is initially average sized, fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark orange-brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel, nuts), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of plum, brown sugar, coriander. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Pretty decent, if not particularly exciting.

The bottle says ’Brown Ale’, but it DOES have significant Scotch ale characteristics as well; very sweet and much stronger than a typical Brown. Alcohol odor and flavor is a bit too strong, but overall it’s very drinkable and memorably flavorful. Awesome head and color.

The aroma is something of a whisky malt, reminiscent of Adelscott. Very dark ripe fruit color with beige head that ringed rapidly. Medium body. Creamy carbonation. Flavor of ripe fruit, including some strawberry. It then moves to gritty malt, coffee, and some light bitter. The alcohol can be sensed. It’s absolutely delicious.

Pours a very dark purple with lots of carbonation and a medium sized light tan head. Aroma of banana, peaches and clove. The taste is surprisingly hoppy with orange peel and a bitterness at the end that reminded me of drinking a Coke. Lots of lacing. Belgium continues to amaze me with their variety.

Lots of aroma - orange, plum, spice, sweet malt, chocolate. Big tan head that dissipates slowly. Hazy burgundy burnt copper colour.Chocolatey flavour with some dark fruitiness and a little bit of spice. Alcohol definite in the finish. Flavour not quite as deep as I was expecting from that heady nose but all in all very enjoyable. Medium-light body is entirely appropriate for style but perhaps a tad over carbonated. I'm going to put a couple of these down and try them again in a year or two. Bottle.

Brown hue with reddish tint and a huge off-white head. Wet paper sack, spices, fleshy fruits, caramel, bittersweet chocolate, cherry wood, and earthy yeast aroma. Moderate sour/acidic initial taste which warms up with a mild alcohol presence. Sweet malts and aromatic hops lead to a dry and woody finish. Medium-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Well made Belgian brown ale with all the characteristics found in the best of genre (scottish ale my arse). Maybe I'm biased since I lived in the Ardennes region for a year, but I love this beer! Highly Recommended.
