Excellent beer. Pours a nice dark brown with a soapy white head. Aroma is roasted almonds and sweet spicy hops. Flavor is very subtle balanced sweetness with a good kick of alcohol.

2/1/05 330ml. Hazy brown amber with small beige head. Malty musty aroma with a hint of coke. Some yeasty sharpness on the tongue with a good palate

Dark brown colour, with a thick creamy, sparkling white head. Yeasty, woody nose with small hints of dark fruits. Sweet, smooth flavour with notes of chocolate. Thick mouthfeel.

Dark brown/amber color, sweet malty/nutty aroma... flavor was spicy, nutty, malty...maybe even slightly hoppy (unexpectedly so). The alcohol wasn’t all that well-hidden, which isn’t necessarily a negative aspect for me...overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable beer.

More Belgian than Scotch... A bit too much hoppiness for my happiness. Nice strength sets up a firm and reasonably drinkable beer--a nice change of pace from the traditional tripel. But only on occasion.

11.2 oz bottle: This one opened with little evidence of carbonation, but poured with a fairly large head anyway. It died off rather quickly, however. It is a fairly opaqur brown color. The nose was nice, with notes of caramel, yestiness and fruits, although there was a slight hint of a peatiness. The taste has a bit of a roasty taste and dryness that wans’t expected. A bit of the peatiness in the taste also, as well a a bit of caramel and smokiness. Interesting...

Aroma of dark bread. Very robust head. Somewhat opaque dark reddish-brown, with some sediment. Some sweet, dark, fruity malt tastes up front, with a just a hint of sourness and some spices at the end (hops?). Very interesting blend of styles here, and it works. Medium body and some effervescence. Aftertaste is very nice, lightly citric, almost... Good stuff.

Not bad, not very great. Need to try it again.
