Beautiful brownish/ruby colour with a huge lasting head. Aroma and flavour was nice too with lots of malts, burned caramel, and brown sugar. Perhaps a bit sweet but nonetheless a wonderful Belgian interpretation of a Scotch ale!
Update: According to Mik Schack thyme is added providing a very subtle spiciness. bierkoning (6071), La Tropica, Netherlands

This beer is reasonably well hopped, but that is hidden by the velvety sweetness. Very likeable beer, tasty and powerful. johndoughty (2159), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England

The nose is of smoke, alcohol and molasses.
The flavor is of caramel, toffee and alcohol.
Full-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Short, dry, crisp finish! My favorite style. A very good brew! Just short of world class! stic (109), Oostende, Belgium
