Apr 25, 2007 On tap at Mile Square in Hoboken. Dark brown color, sweet and malty. Great beer all around, but i think it is better off the tap than in the bottle.

Oct 17, 2008 A very tasty Scotch Ale. Flavors were caramel, hints of apricot, brown sugar, malt, and hops. Very smooth and flavorful. Pours dark golden brown with a nice creamy head.

Mar 25, 2009 Updated: Mar 26, 2009Fantastic reddish-brown color with a nice foamy lacing head. Fine toasty aroma of caramel and candy sugar, nice spicy character of clove and cinnamon with some vanilla. After a while when the beer opens, there are some fruity character of fig and honey. Smooth mouthfeel with sweet and toasty caramel, some nuts and fine spicy taste of the fermentation. Strong in alcohol but it is not an off flavor. Balanced and delicious beer, absolutely correct!

Sep 6, 2008 Mmmmmmm Dark and funky. A clean cherryness to the malt with a bit of chocolate undertones. Very Belgium for a Scotch ale...a winning combination! Unbelievably smooth, and that 8.5% abv is completely undetectable. Dark as night but if you get some light behind it, it glows red. Very good.

Jul 24, 2009 Pours a very dark brown with a nice thick tan head. Aroma is pleasant of roasted malts and dry fruits with brown sugars. Flavor of roasted malts, fruity with plum and blueberry like sweetness. Some caramel, brown sugars and spices. Very well balanced, so pleasant, such a great tasting experience.

Apr 3, 2003 Slightly cloudy chestnut color with a bigger bubbled, smallish beige head. Aroma reminds me of a few of the T'ij brews, strong overripe fruit drenched in caramel. For some reason I envision fruit flies. Smooth flavors start with a touch of peat, move on to fruits of pineapple, dates and plums. Finishes with a balance malt and hops curious, corpulent, conglomeration. Finish is really rather fleet, with just a linger of licorice. A complex and satisfying libation.

Sep 23, 2006 Even better from draft. Unfortunally not as widely available as La Chouffe. Rustic, like a abbay double. Nice herbal and caramel taste. Real comfort drink. Visit www.achouffe.be or better the brewery.
