The dry hop presence offsets the malt flavour and then mellows to be a fine resinous ale. Scottish? Well ok, but the Belgian character comes through. RE-RATE: All of the above and then some. This is an excellent beer that toally belies its alcoholic content. tinydancer (52), Gibsonville, North Carolina, USA

The flavor really comes out as the beer warms. Just really good. marcoc (3), Mijdrecht, Netherlands does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 23, 2006 Even better from draft. Unfortunally not as widely available as La Chouffe. Rustic, like a abbay double. Nice herbal and caramel taste. Real comfort drink. Visit www.achouffe.be or better the brewery. Very smooth and flavorful. Pours dark golden brown with a nice creamy head. armando629 (1006), Budapest, Hungary

Fine toasty aroma of caramel and candy sugar, nice spicy character of clove and cinnamon with some vanilla. After a while when the beer opens, there are some fruity character of fig and honey. Smooth mouthfeel with sweet and toasty caramel, some nuts and fine spicy taste of the fermentation. Strong in alcohol but it is not an off flavor. Balanced and delicious beer, absolutely correct! Very Belgium for a Scotch ale...a winning combination! Unbelievably smooth, and that 8.5% abv is completely undetectable. Dark as night but if you get some light behind it, it glows red. Very good. eManu (206), Brussels, Belgium
