Commercial Description:
Nitrogen is what distinguishes McAuslan Cream Ale from the crowd. Draft beer is usually pressurized with carbon dioxide. The addition of nitrogen to the mixture helps create a thicker, longer-lasting head. The nitrogen also helps smooth away some of the characteristic carbon dioxide bite often associated with North American drafts. Our Cream Ale, known as McAuslan Smooth Ale in the US, has a beautiful long-lasting head and a full-bodied silky texture that make it a unique taste experience.

Nitro draught at C’est What, Toronto. Fresh from the tap, this was beautifully cloudy in the top third of the glass, gradually becoming a transparent orange colour with a thick, creamy, persistent head. The aroma was a bit faint with some orange and breadiness. This was quite refreshing, with a relatively thick, creamy mouthfeel. There was orange and lemon in the flavour, with pine and a fresh but modest hop bitterness.

[1757-20081003] Tap. Mild grainy bread dough yeast aroma. Clear, amber red body with a long-lasting thick creamy white head and some lacing. Fruity grainy yeast flavour has mostly bread dough notes with a hint of cooked broccoli. Medium body is creamy. Very fresh, very nice, in super condition.

Draft. Creamy gold colour, took forever to settle, but left a very nice creamy head that would add to the beer very nicely. Lives up to the title ‘Cream Ale’, one of the creamiest beers I’ve ever had, with a malt backing. Like many cream ales, it suffers from an overall blandness, but this is probably as good cream ales come, good brew.

On tap at fall ale fest. Taps a hazed dark honey color, with a billowing creamy head. Aromas are subtle but you get whifs of floral hops, apricot, some sweet grainy notes. Nice hop "bite" up front with a wonderful creamy smooth mouth feel, some citrus-peach notes in the middle with a clean, drying , delicate malty finish. I think we got something here. Cream ales are kind of a bland two dimensional style but this is both layered and subtle as well as smooth and creamy....don’t know how much the nitrogen delivery has to do with it but this is one of the better commercial cream ales you’ll find anywhere.
