BeerBunker (601), Burbank, Illinois, USA Nov 8, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours dark orange with a rapidily dissipating off-white head. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Aroma is of pumpkin, spice, whipped topping, and malt. Smells like a sweet piece of pumpkin pie, but not much else. Taste starts of with a big amount of pumpkin and spice. As far as pumpkin in beer goes, this one has it down pretty damn well. Has a very muted, bready malt backbone. Mouthfeel is very carbonated, but creamy. Lingering taste of spice and breadiness. A one-note beer, but it is damn tasty. DrHomolka (725), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 8, 2009 11.5oz bottle pours clear filtered copper with a small white head with poor retention. Aroma is like every other pumpkin beer known to man. Okay slightly better maybe but not really. Flavor is cinnamon and mild maltiness though the spice level is quite low. Super clean. This is very drinkable. Not super good in the pumpkin department or the uniqueness. No more pumpkin beers please unless you’re going to offer something different. beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 7, 2009 341 ml bottle courtesy of a trtade with Boutip. Pours a mostly clear coppery orange with a large linen white head that lingered until mid-glass and left a few large patches of foam. Pleasant aroma of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The flavor is pumpkin, wax beans, cinnamon and nutmeg and tastes a bit watered down. Light bodied. An ok pumpkin beer. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bottle courtesy of matt7215. Pours copper with a white head. Smells of fresh pumpkins, grass, hay, mellow pie spice. Tastes of pumpkin, some pie spice, full bodied. wilderthanyou (409), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Oct 31, 2009 From a friend at the LCBO. thanks buddy. I don’t really like pumpkins, so i figured I would not be a huge fan of pumpkin beer, I had southern tier pumpking a couple days ago and it wasn’t bad, i’m sure for someone who likes pumpkins it’s probably f’n amazing, this beer I would say isn’t as good as that, but I am enjoying it more because the pumpkin flavour isn’t so in your face.
Pours an amber colour with a head which dissolves to pretty much nothing. The aroma is big and spicey, pumpkin pie, the pumpkin takes a back seat to the smells of cinnamon, and licorice, I swear to god I smells something else though, like coca cola or something, but it’s good. The flavour is good, pumpkin pie, cinnamon, but ends on a strange coca cola note, strange, but it works. The weight is a little light, compared to southern tiers version, which is one thing that I preferred by them, a little higher of an abv might have help kicked this up a notch, but i still really enjoyed this brew. XtraStout (46), Alberta, Canada Oct 29, 2009 Great smell, smelt like a pumpkin pie (no surprise). Amber colour, silky smooth with some nice lacing. A little heavy on the pumpkin flavour, but not at all bad.
I had the Great Lakes Pumpkin Ale earlier this week and it was similar only the smell was great but there was little discernable pumpkin flavour. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Oct 29, 2009 Bottle 341ml. @ home. [ Courtesy of henrikb ]. Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy, pumpkin, spicy, cardamom, ginger - coriander. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090710] RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Oct 28, 2009 Pretty spicy aroma with more subtle pumpkin notes. Very lightly sweet. A bit more pumpkin in the flavor. Nice. Like a nice cooked pumpkin dish more than a pumpkin pie.
