Bejaaamin (110), London, Ontario, Canada Oct 17, 2009 clear chesnut pour, off-white head. smells(like all other pumkin ales), like pumkin spices(clove, nutmeg, allspice all there), lots of caramel, taste is good, subtle on the flavours leaning on an already well-crafted base. mcauslan never fails. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Oct 17, 2009 9/27/2009: St. Ambroise Pumpkin... Aroma: Caramelized pumpkin; very light spice. Appearance: Deep copper color; beige crown. Flavor: Good plain canned pumpkin flavor; balanced spices (colove, cinnamon, hint of ginger). Palate: Medium-light body; thin texture. Overall: Very good pumpkin ale; #3 on my list of favorite pumpkin beers (#1 = Southampton Pumpkin Ale; #2 = Mad Brewer Boo Beer
11.5 fl. oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #74 for this beer.
MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Oct 17, 2009 11.5oz bottle served in a shaker. Clear, reddish amber pour with a thin head of tan foam that settled into a lasting cap. Spotty lacing. The aroma included toasted caramel, pumpkin, and perfumey pie spices. The flavor had rich caramel followed b some vegetal notes and strong spicing. The cinnamon and ginger really stand out. Medium-bodied mouthfeel. Slightly slick and lightly carbonated. Not bad. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Oct 17, 2009 Bottle. Clear reddish amber pour with a huge beige head. Spicy aroma of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove. Caramel flavor up front with cinnamon, ginger and clove. My only problem with this beer is that the spice leaves your tongue too quickly and your left with a somewhat watery finish. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Oct 17, 2009 Put straight up against Brooklyn Post Road Pumpkin Ale.
Poured out a small foamy cap that rims and leaves some slippery ropy lacing. Heavy spices that are particularly weighted on ginger and cloves with a smaller amount of cinnamon and allspice. Caramel as well. The taste is pretty much a very strongly spiced pie... I can almost taste the crust. There is a touch of mint or something on the back end and some mild hops with a citrus quality. Cinnamon flavoured candy and a very hard to find biscuit. Not quite medium bodied, long almost sticky spicy after taste. Would make an interesting breath mint! Winner - St. Ambroise in a landslide. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Oct 15, 2009 341 ml bottle from the LCBO. pours deep orange with a small eggshell head. laces nicely. aroma of pumpkin pie spice and amber malts. flavour is mostly sweet malt and spice. balanced and drinkable. solid pumpkin ale. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 13, 2009 Aroma was pumpkin/squash, pepper, spices, nutmeg, cinnamon. Deep orange/amber, almost red, white head. The flavor is pumpkin, pie spices, nutmeg, caramel. The finish is a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, mostly spicy and peppery. The mouthfeel is thin/medium, slightly silky. Decent pumpkin ale, if not a classic.
