Commercial Description:
We are pleased to introduce our first lager Black Forest Bock. Bock in German translates to goat and this beer has plenty of kick. German monks would brew these strong lagers to get them through their fast during lent. Our version is a bit of a hybrid Schwarz(black)Beer/Bock. Starting with a traditional bock base we added some black malt to add a soft roastyness. A deep dark mahogany color with a caramel, toasty/raisin bread sweet malt character you will enjoy.

On draught at the brewpub in St Cloud, Minnesota. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy light tan head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and a thin tan ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, a touch of coffee and dark chocolate with some flowery hops. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with flavors of tasted dark malt, some toffee and flowery hops. Finish is semi-dry, a little metallic from the higher alcohol with some toasted malt aftertaste. It was challenging to tell the difference between the stout and bock beers. At least the bock beer’s higher alcohol made a difference.
