Aroma had ginger and light bits of lemon. Light mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Prickly ginger taste with no apparent alcohol. Some sweetness, but not much. Nothing new on the finish. I drink non-alcoholic ginger brews and this taste like it has as much alcohol as those - none. It was a nice drink, but I still can’t believe it is a beer. I’d drink this again as I’m a sucker for ginger, in both food and drink. DJMonarch (6878), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Golden coloured with a hazy appearance. Lemon aroma and flavour. Crisp on the palate with a ginger finish. Hard to believe you are drinking a 5% brew. RogerBurks (45), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 22, 2005 On tap at McCoy’s in Westport. Doesn’t taste at all like a beer, which is a little disarming. The flavor goes from fresh ginger to lemon to grass to various spices. Interesting, almost vegetable-like palate. Not a bad drink, but probably not one I’d order again. An interesting experiment, nonetheless. SledgeJr (2963), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Pale cloudy yellow in color. Lemony flavor. Substantial fine-bubbled white head. A great breakfast beer for the kinder. UPDATE: On tap at the 2006 Best of the Midwest Brewers’ Festival. Sweet and gingery. More like a soda pop than I last remember. obisbeer (558), Barcelona, Spain
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 28, 2004 Cloudy pale yellow like dish washing water. Ginger ale nose. Med mouthfeel with sweet light finish. Flavors of giniger, orange, vanilla and sweetness. Eh, ok though not enough to order a pint. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 19, 2004 Lemony aroma with hints of pine. Head is white and spare, which may have more to do with the use of new glasses than with the beer itself. Not much lace to speak of. Lightly cloudy body; light yellow in color. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Long finish with heavy sweetness. A very nice ginger flavor pervades, and cuts the lemony sweetness. Was served with a Scallop Ceviche at McCoy’s Brewmaster’s Dinner in St. Louis Park, MN. The Ceviche was prepared with a citrus sauce made with the Ginger Shandy. A perfect accompaniement. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2003 A very refreshing summer drink that tasted nothing of beer. Very quenching with an almost Lysol like after taste (in a pleasent way) Indra (2030), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Jun 22, 2003 Perfumy, ginger and lemony aroma. Cloudy pale yellow color, fine creamy head. Very little beer flavor, mostly sweet, citrusy lemonade and ginger flavors. No hop bitterness or flavor. Extremely light and effervescent. Just very un-beery. I guess this won the silver at the GABF 2002 in the Specialty category, too. Make of that what you will.
