unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Sep 19, 2009 Tap @ McCoy’s Public House. Copper color. White head. Flavor is great! Lots of toasted malts. Earthy finish. Some woody / pine hops. Nice fuggle character. Malt backbone is rich and built well. Notes of munich malts and a bit of chocolate. It is a bit light in color, expecting it to taste watered down. This beer delivers the flavor. Sweet biscuit aroma. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Apr 2, 2009

beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Mar 21, 2009 Tap and cask @ the Foundry, bar next door to McCoy’s. The tap is a clean brown color with a disappearing head. Aroma is woody and nutty dark malts, light sweetness with a bit of hops at the end. There is a burning wood incense thang going on as well. Taste is stronger on the woodiness. The cask is more hoppy, obviously has a better head, which never fades. There is some coffee in there as well. It is much more quaffable than the tap. Andbrewer (18), St. Joseph, Missouri, USA Feb 25, 2009 Dark brown, slightly amber, small tan head. Aroma of malt and fairly sweet. Tastes nutty and of malt. Pleasent aftertaste. It is filtered nicely and drinks very smooth. Overall it was a lovely beer that I would most certainly drink again when visiting McCoy’s. For me one of the preferred beers they offer. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Feb 14, 2009 brewpub average brown ale. Dark brown color wtih no head. Very solid nut aroma, but with the alcoholic tint that seems to be common to brown ales. Slightly dry malt taste up front with what I believe is a chestnut taste. The alcohol is still there, but fades to the background. Tasty enough.
bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Jan 21, 2009 On cask engine at the Foundry. Pours nut brown, surprisingly very filtered, with a nice white head. Nose is a bit malty and sweet, nothing special.. Tastes comes off with a bit of nuttiness, some lightly roasted malts and that’s about it. Body is light and the tastes lingers a bit. Alcohol is not present. Overall drinks fast and quick and smooth but not memorable. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jan 17, 2009 On tap at the Foundry in KC. Pours a nut brown body with a thin, beige head that dissipates slowly and remains lightly laced. Not a lot going on in the aroma, but what there is has a nuttiness, sweet caramel, and some butter toffee. The flavor is a little better than the aroma, but is still pretty lacking and watery. Some sweet nuttiness, bread-like malts, caramel, and a very very very small hint of hops. Soft palate and light to medium bodied. Pretty boring finish and no real lingering taste. Overall, just an average brown, I guess. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Jun 21, 2008 STL Microfest - at the fest it was just under the name McCoys Brown Ale. Pours light brown with a beige head. The aroma has toasty malts, nuttiness and a bit of butter. Medium body with a moderate amount of soft carbonation. The flavor starts off with some hazelnut, diacetyl and toasty malt. It is much like the aroma and on the boring side. The finish has light spice and less butter. Fair brown ale.
