McCoys Mashed Potato Pale Ale

Poured a brownish gold. Aroma is light hops. Flavor is dominated by hops.

Pint pour @ brewpub. Yeah, I went there just to try a potato beer, I mean how can one not try it? The color is clear dark straw and has a medium thick head that sticks around. Aroma is very herbal hops. There is a light burnt maltiness below that as well. Taste is similar, the hops are sharper though. Best i could consider "potato" is a slight bit at the end of the flavor. But otherwise this is just a decent IPA with a strong, earthy, hop bitter finish.

STL Microfest. I don’t think I’ve had a beer before that had potatoes, so this is a first for me. Pours golden / light bronze with an off-white head. The aroma has light caramel malt, minor hops and something that coming off with a strange butter aspect ~ I assume this is from the potatoes. Medium body with soft carbonation. The flavor starts off with "off" maltiness, some medicinal sourness and spicy hops. The finish continues with medicinal traits. Fair beer, but at least it is a unique idea.
