unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Sep 19, 2009 Both Tap & Cask @ McCoy’s Public House. Light orange color. Nice rocky white head. Complex hop character. Nice combination of West Coast bittering of citrus, earthiness, and light pine. Very nice lacing. Rich malt backbone. Aroma has a nice fuggle hop and bready biscuity malt. Very nice caramel, crystal malt. Medium bodied.
Cask version was a bit lighter in body. It did bring out a bit more of the hop bite. Much more pleasurable session. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Apr 2, 2009

Andbrewer (18), St. Joseph, Missouri, USA Feb 25, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Quite tasty. Strong aroma of hops and malt, as to be expected. Filtered through hops 3 times if I recall correctly, so higher on the IBU scale, but not terrible. Balanced very well. Very enjoyable. Will drink again. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Feb 14, 2009 brewpub in kc. Nice malt flavor, underplayed behind a wonderful hop presence. Nice aroma, but it’s the heavy hop bitterness that gets all the attention in the beer. It definitely has that fresh, ’craft-brewed’ flavor. Drinking one of these made me want another so i bought a growler. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Jan 30, 2009 Sampler at the brewpub. It was a fine IPA, the best beer they make on a regular basis (half of them suck balls)> Has a lighly sticky lacing and a clear orange/copper color. Aroma is lightly fruity hops that are sweet and perfume-y/ Taste is similar with just a bit of residual sweetness.and a low bitterness. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jan 17, 2009 On tap at the Foundry in KC. Pours a clear copper body with a finger-width, creamy, white head that dissipates slowly and remains pretty lacy. Not bad looking. The aroma is minimal, but what there is has a sharp hop bitterness and a bit of sweet maltiness. The flavor on the other hand is noticeable, however, not necessarily in a good way. There is a pronounced, harsh hop bitterness that dominates this beer. Very earthy and piney. Not a lot of maltiness to this making it pretty unbalanced. Palate is dry, harsh, and light. Overall, despite the nice abundance of hops, there is no balance! However, for a local brewpup, it was better than I expected and made for a somewhat enjoyable sipper. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA Dec 13, 2008 Pours a deep copper. Nice hoppy nose. Nice hop malt balance and very consistent. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Jun 21, 2008 STL Microfest. Pours copper with a light white head. The aroma has dry caramel malt, earthy hops and diacetyl. Medium body with nice carbonation for the style, but it has a definite watery feel. The flavor starts off with earthy hops, harshness, diacetyl and a dirtiness to the hops and malt. The finish is all dirty hops (probably chinook). Fair at best.
