Commercial Description:
Despite the ban on women in the Union Army, Elizabeth Newcomb fought in the Civil War. Bill, as she was known, dressed as a man and saw combat in several battles. We have named our India Pale Ale after Elizabeth because its looks are deceiving. Although light in color, it is fully hopped with a bold, bitter taste. This beer is not for the rookie ale drinkers, and certainly would have been a favorite of Elizabeth’s.

Draught pint at the St Louis Park, MN location, October 8 2006. Darkish dirty amber with little head....faintly hoppy aroma, bit of caramel swirling amidst the citric PNW notes, orange mostly....bitter orange again on the tongue, not bad at first but a chalky/dirty somewhat stale character creeps in and the beer finishes dusty-dry and pretty dull.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was medium gold with a chunky and slightly off white head. The aroma was grapefruit with some light bread. The taste had some unbalanced grapefruit rind with almonds. There was also some burnt bread crust. This was another lifeless beer at the brewpub. This needs some more malt body.

Sampled in a standard old pint glass which displays a bright golden and orange hue topped by a fluffy head and very nice lace.
The aroma has a nice layer of grassy andlight piney hope, some grapefruit and clove, and healthy dose of biscuity malt.
The flavor profile is a solid bitterness supported by the pale malts, clean and simple which mades a fine drinking IPA. The finish is a tad peppery and astrengent. <sp> Overall, it is a good IPA and what is wrong with that?

This is a medium-dark amber beer witha nice citric aroma. This ale follows with the promised grapefruit hoppiness and medium body. Very good American-style IPA.

St. Louis Park, MN location. Slightly hazy orange color with a medium head. A difficult to distinguish aroma, but it seemed a little like hops with a grass influence. Lots of bitterness, but of the earthy English vareity. Maybe Fuggles, but not Goldings. A little malt is there. Not bad at all.

GABF '03. There are breweries in Kansas City? This may be the most boring IPA I had a the fest. Golden in color is the best thing I can say about this stuff. Keep trying guys.
