heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Feb 23, 2009 Tap at the brewpub. The body was perfectly black with a light tan head. The aroma had some chocolate and malty caramel. There was also some light roast. The taste was lightly roasted with some dark chocolate. There was light coffee and walnuts. Lots of lacing left behind in the glass. Smooth. tjthresh (1748), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Feb 4, 2006 Enjoyed at the brewpub. Rather unassuming aromas of milky hot chocolate. Completly opaque dark brown, served with no head. Silky, slik. Mild bitterness. Got the job done. Indra (2023), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jan 30, 2006 Mild aroma of dark chocolate, roasty, grainy malts, an almost burnt sugary sweetness and definite hints of oatmeal and other toasty grains. Opaque black color with a slight tan head, fine but lasting. Roasty, bitter malt flavor to start, plenty of rich chocolate here and throughout, notes of cola before a blend of fully roasty, sweet malt dominates the finish, which also features fading hints of spicy hop bitterness and flavor, toffee and raisin. Pretty well balanced flavor overall between the light-moderate amount of bitterness, malt roast and dark sugary sweetness and the substantial chocolate and oatmeal presence. Fairly thick, effervescent and prickly mouthfeel, some lingering stickiness and with a medium-full body. Enjoyable. This was one I’d been looking to try for quite some time. MOboy (446), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Oct 26, 2002 Updated: Nov 30, 2003A great oatmeal stout from my hometown. Well made wonderful mouthfeel but I wish it finished a tad drier. Gorgeous colour (black is beautiful) and even more attractive head. Flavours of chocolate, vanilla, coffee and cream are all appearent in this roasty, toasty brew. Damn fine.
