Wonderfully balanced, even with such a complex set of flavors. Fresh and aromatic. Roasty, toasty, rich, thick and robust. Not too heavy though. Great sweet vs. bitterness thing going on... and a little sourness too. Some chocolate and coffee hints really gave it the icing on the cake. WAY better than their Oatmeal Stout, which they also had at this time.

Pours a deep black with about a quarter inch of tan foam. Okay head retention and lacing. Roasted grain is prominent in the aroma, accompanied by a bit of bitter coffee. This is a nice dry stout, with roasted grains that are not overdone and likewise not lacking. A little bit of coffee and chocolate flavors are in there too. Well rounded. The beer is smooth and nicely carbonated. The body is very good for the style, not too full, and not thin or watery like some brewpub stouts I have tried.

Tap @ McCoy’s Public House. Dark brown color. Long lasting heavy creamy head. Flavor is very dry. A bit of hickory, lots of roast. Very roasty. Aroma has a touch of honey. very roasty. A great Irish dry stout.

On tap at the brewpub. Nitrogen dispensed. 40 IBU’s. Faint roasted aroma. Tan head. Thick lacing. Good body, complex flavor. Peaty, smokey, smooth. The high hops add to the complexity. Good coffee flavor. Pronounced roasted malt at the end. Palate is smooth.

On draft at the brewery. Not too much to really note here other than it was a very average, slightly watery stout with little character. It did look good on the draw, however.

Black color with a thin and creamy head. Weak aroma of coffee. The taste is on the light side, but has a bit of bitter chocolate. Not as full as I’d like, but a passable beer.
